In West Jaintia Hills, the office of the District Mission Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha organised a special programme across schools in different blocks of the district to mark the occasion. Scholl children actively participated in various activities, including drawing and painting, recitation, Slogan writing, poetry writing and other creative events. The programme provided an opportunity for students to express their ideas and creativity while highlighting the importance of literacy.

Teachers also took part in the celebration with the aim of encouraging students to understand and reflect on the value of reading and writing in today’s world. Special talks were delivered on the significance and objectives of World Literacy Day, followed by a Literacy Pledge Reading., encouraging students to recognise the importance of literacy and contribute towards promoting education and learning in their communities
