Title: World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Observed at Tluh Village, East Jaiñtia Hills District

During the programme, Deputy Legal Aid Defence Counsel, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Smti. K. Challam, highlighted various legal provisions and welfare schemes for the protection and wellbeing of senior citizens. She spoke on the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, stressing the responsibility of family members to care for the elderly. She also informed the gathering about the toll-free helpline number 15100 and the availability of free legal aid and assistance through legal services institutions for vulnerable sections of society.
Manager of HDFC Bank, Ladrymbai Branch, Smti. S. Lyngdoh, also addressed the gathering and highlighted various banking benefits and financial schemes available for senior citizens. She informed the participants about the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) and emphasized the importance of financial security among the elderly. She also sensitised the gathering on the growing incidents of online and banking fraud, while creating awareness on cyber safety measures. Further, she informed the participants about the Cyber Crime Helpline Number 1930 for reporting financial and cyber-related fraud cases
