Addressing the gathering, Governor of Meghalaya C.H. Vijayashankar encouraged the students and emphasized that the student community of Meghalaya represents the future of society and the nation. He observed that many deserving students are unable to avail themselves of the benefits of various government schemes due to technical issues and insufficient awareness.
He stressed the need to conduct awareness workshops in colleges and universities across the state so that students can better understand and benefit from schemes introduced by both the Union Government and the State Government. He also assured the students that their concerns would be taken up with the Education Department and the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs to help resolve the issues faced by beneficiaries
