Title: ULLAS Takes Literacy to the Doorstep in South West Garo Hills
Press Release Number:
16/09/2026
Description:
Across 37 CRCs, Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) and Volunteer Teachers (VTs) are conducting door-to-door surveys and registration drives. Learners are being assisted with registration for the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test (FLNAT). Activities have been carried out under CRCs including Agalgre, Ampati, Arakgittim and Matalagre.
Community awareness is being strengthened through meetings with Nokmas and Gaonburas, pamphlet distribution and literacy rallies. An awareness programme for neo-learners was held at Goldatgre Village under Betasing Block on September 9, while schools across the district have participated in ULLAS Literacy Fortnight rallies.
Drawing competitions were also organised under the Murchapani and Salmanpara CRCs, engaging students in promoting the message of literacy and lifelong learning.
At the district level, a coordination meeting was held with the Deputy Commissioner, BDOs, DSEO, SDSEO, BMCs and other officers to strengthen the implementation of ULLAS
