Addressing the gathering, Shri Lalit Mohan Sharma congratulated the champion team and appreciated the efforts of all the participating schools and young athletes. He encouraged the teams that could not secure the top positions to remain motivated, learn from the experience and continue working towards improving their performance.
He further emphasised the importance of discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship and healthy competition, urging the young players to carry these values beyond the football field and into their everyday lives.
The SPANDAN initiative, through such sporting events, aims to encourage youth participation in sports while promoting peace, development and a spirit of healthy competition among young athletes. A District-Level SPANDAN League Basketball Tournament was also organised in Shillong as part of the programme
