Title: Meghalaya Gears Up for Har Ghar Tiranga 2026, to be Observed from 9th to 17th August

The Government of Meghalaya finalized its plan of action for the observance of Har Ghar Tiranga 2026, at a State-level Coordination Meeting held under the Chairmanship of the Secretary, Community & Rural Development Department, at Committee Room II, Main Secretariat, Shillong. The campaign will be observed across the State from 9th to 17th August 2026 and will this year also commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, with the singing of Vande Mataram proposed to be incorporated into suitable programmes during the period.

As part of the State-level observance, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya is proposed to unfurl the National Flag on 14th August 2026, during the National Handloom Day programme to be held at RiSai, Ri-Bhoi District, organized by the Directorate of Sericulture & Weaving, Department of Textiles. Special Eri silk National Flags are being arranged for the occasion. The State-level launch of the campaign coincided with National Handloom Day observed on the 7th August, 2026, inaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister for Textiles.

Citizens are encouraged to take part in the “Selfie with Tiranga” digital campaign at harghartiranga.com, which this year will also feature the lyrics of Vande Mataram. All Departments were advised to set up Tiranga Selfie Points at their premises, and daily photographs and short videos of activities to be captured. The campaign will converge with major State events, including the Independence Day celebrations at Lok Bhavan on 15th August
