Title: Govt. Assurances Panel Reviews Stadium, Water Sports Centre; Lauds Development in New Shillong

The delegation was led by Committee Chairman and Hon'ble MLA, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, and members Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA - East Shillong, Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, MLA – Umsning, and Ollan Singh Suin, MLA – Mawsynram.
Tongkhar said he was proud that the biggest football ground in India is being built in the state. “We must thank Chief Minister Conrad Sangma for his initiative in bringing this project to Meghalaya,” Shri Tongkhar said. The Committee Chairman expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and said the project is expected to be completed on time. The deadline for completion of this football only, 40,000-seater stadium is the latter part of 2028 as per the tender agreement and its is being implemented by KPC Projects limited.
The committee also visited the Water Sports Centre at Umtham and the tennis court at Umsawli. The Hon’ble Chairman said he was pleased to see the progress made in New Shillong, particularly in road infrastructure. “It surprised me and the other members to see the development taking place here in New Shillong,” Shri Tongkhar said.
