The discussions focused on creating a structured and sustainable placement pathway for ITI graduates in the tourism and hospitality sector. This initiative is one of several under SHCDM-II aimed at empowering Meghalaya’s youth. Other major interventions within the Department include the construction of new hostels across ITIs to improve access and retention, the introduction of industry-relevant new trades across institutes to prepare trainees for emerging economic opportunities, and the rollout of a hybrid job marketplace – a two-faceted placement module that supports both formal employment and a gig economy-style marketplace for ITI trainees
