Title: Accused Sentenced to Six Years’ Imprisonment in Attempt-to-Murder Case

Description:
On 22.08.2022, an FIR was received at Bholaganj P.O.P that Shri. Deepak Debnath had attempted to murder the complainant’s minor son by chopping his neck with a sharp knife. Accordingly, a case vide Shella P.S Case No. 24(08)2022 u/s 307/326 IPC was registered. The case was investigated and consequently the accused, Shri Deepak Debnath, was arrested. On completion of the investigation, the Investigation Officer filed the Charge Sheet vide CS No. 01/2023 Dated 10/02/2023 u/s 302/326 IPC.
On 7th October, 2026, the Hon’ble Court of Smti. D.R. Kharbteng, District and Session Judge, East Khasi Hills, Shillong vide judgment/Court Order Dated 07/10/2026 convicted the accused, Shri Deepak Debnath, of Session Case No. 04(T)2023 arising out of Shella P.S Case No. 24(08)2022 u/s 307/326 IPC. The accused is sentenced to 6 (six) years simple imprisonment with a fine of ₹ 10,000/- for an offence u/s 304 Part II IPC and in default of payment of fine, further simple imprisonment of 1 (one) month
