Upon completion of the trial, the Hon’ble Court of the District & Sessions Judge, West Khasi Hills, Nongstoin, convicted the accused under Sections 376(1), 363, 342 and 506 IPC, sentencing him to Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) of 10 years, 7 years, 1 year and 2 years, which shall run concurrently, along with fines totaling ₹70,000. Considering the serious nature of the offences, the Hon’ble Court also awarded compensation of ₹3,50,000 to the survivor under the Meghalaya Victim Compensation Scheme, 2019.

This successful conviction reaffirms the commitment of Eastern West Khasi Hills District Police towards the safety and protection of women, children and the citizens, and to ensuring that crimes against them are investigated thoroughly and pursued to secure justice
