Speaking during the occasion, Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma, highlighting the objectives of the 'Achiever of the Month’ program said it is broadly to recognise the achievements of different individuals in different fields to recognise, support, understand, motivate and appreciate the efforts. He also informed that Sports is a very important sector for the government with significant investments being made in the sector with increased budgetary allocation. “A few years back the sports sector was facing challenges and difficulties with sports associations carrying on with their activities out of love and passion for the sports with little or no support from the government,” he said.

He further informed that the government has been able to address and streamline some of the challenges in Sports department with investments not only in sports infrastructures across the state but also by supporting sports associations, coaches and individuals and added, “The Sports Policy of the state is not merely a policy document but a vision document that helps and guides us to move forward to achieve our goals”
