Title: Accused Convicted and Sentenced to 20 Years’ Imprisonment in POCSO Case

On 28th August, 2026, the Hon’ble Court of Smt. M.K. Lyngdoh, Spl. Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills, Shillong, vide Judgment/Court Order dated 28/08/2026, convicted the accused, Shri Teren Mawlieh, of Spl. (POCSO) Case No. 06 of 2021 arising out of Mawngap P.S. Case No. 49(12)2020 u/s 354, 354A/354B/376(2)(f)/376(6)/503/506 IPC r/w Sec 3(b)/5(n)/6/7/9(1)(n)/10 POCSO Act.
The accused has been sentenced to 20 (twenty) years’ imprisonment with fine of ₹ 30,000/- for an offence u/s 4 of POCSO Act and, in default of payment of fine, further simple imprisonment for 3 (three) months.
The accused is also sentenced to 30 (thirty) years’ rigorous imprisonment with fine of ₹ 40,000/- for an offence u/s 6 of POCSO Act and, in default of payment of fine, further simple imprisonment for 4 (four) months.
The accused is also sentenced to 5 (five) years’ imprisonment with fine of ₹ 10,000/- for an offence u/s 8 of POCSO Act and, in default of payment of fine, further simple imprisonment for 1 (one) month.
The accused is also sentenced to 7 (seven) years’ imprisonment with fine of ₹ 20,000/- for an offence u/s 10 of POCSO Act and, in default of payment of fine, further simple imprisonment for 1 (one) month.
The convict has already undergone a period of 3 (three) years, 11 (eleven) months, and 28 (sixteen) days of imprisonment. He shall therefore serve the remaining sentence of 26 (twenty-six) years and 2 (two) days in jail
