Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Hon'ble Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, Fisheries & Tourism and MLA of Resubelpara, Shri T.D. Shira, shared his experiences as a farmer and emphasized the importance of quality planting materials, proper spacing, organic manure and scientific farming practices. He informed beneficiaries receiving saplings of black pepper, dragon fruit, vanilla and passion fruit that these crops require time to mature and urged them to remain patient, dedicated and committed to good agricultural practices.
The Minister also encouraged farmers to actively participate in the various training programmes conducted by the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to improve their skills and productivity. He lauded the State Government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, for introducing farmer-centric initiatives such as CM Farm+, FOCUS, FOCUS+ and CM-ELEVATE, which are creating livelihood opportunities and promoting entrepreneurship across Meghalaya
