Duties and Responsibilities of Zonal Officers:
1) The Zonal Officer shall remain updated and alert during heavy rainfall and inclement weather, monitor situations through Gram Sevaks, take precautionary measures, and immediately report any emergency or damage due to natural calamities to the Office of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Jowai.

2) In case of calamities affecting dwelling houses, the Zonal Officer shall coordinate with the concerned Gram Sevak and report promptly to the Addl. Deputy Commissioner/Asst. Commissioner (Revenue/Relief), Jowai and DDMA.

3) The Zonal Officer shall inform the Addl. Deputy Commissioner/Asst. Commissioner (Supply)/Deputy Director of Supply, Jowai in case of urgent requirement of food supplies and coordinate with local PDS dealers.

4) In case of landslides affecting movement on National Highways or other roads, the Zonal Officer shall inform concerned Police Station, PWD, Health, Civil Defence, MePDCL, etc., and coordinate with DDMA officials.

5) The Zonal Officer shall disseminate weather forecasts/warnings received from the Office through Letter/WhatsApp/SMS to Assistants and Gram Sevaks without delay for necessary action at village level
