Description:
Speaking to the media, the Deputy Commissioner informed that, according to reports received from Block Development Officers (BDOs) across various blocks, as many as 147 villages were affected by a sudden storm that struck on the previous night. It was further reported that over 1,000 households have been impacted, with many suffering severe damage while others experienced partial losses.
The storm and heavy rainfall also disrupted electricity supply, affecting the 132 KV power lines in Byrnihat and Umiam, as well as the 33 KV line in Nongpoh. In response, the district administration has directed the concerned power department to expedite repair and restoration work to prevent prolonged disruptions in power supply.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner has instructed BDOs to conduct field visits to the affected villages, assess the situation on the ground, and ensure that relief reaches the affected households as per their needs
