Title: Advisory to Cinema Exhibitors and other stakeholders in Northeast India on Adherence to Provisions of the Cinematograph Act 1952, and Certification Guidelines

Description:
The Regional Office, CBFC, Guwahati, kindly advises all cinema halls and public halls/auditoriums across Northeast India to fully comply with the Cinematograph Act, 1952, Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024, and age-based guidelines for smooth public exhibitions.
Key areas of focus include:
1. Age Restrictions
“A” Certified Films: Strictly no entry is to be allowed for persons below 18 years, including lap children. Please verify IDs and display notices (Section 7(1)(a)(ii) & (d)). Penalty: ₹10,000 per minor; up to 3 years imprisonment + ₹10 lakh fine.
UA Certifications (Parental Guidance): Under updated guidelines, please adhere to sub-categories — UA 7+ (caution for under 7), UA 13+ (under 13), UA 16+ (under 16). Exhibitors should display warnings and encourage parental discretion to align with intent. Non-adherence risks general violation penalties.
2. Mandatory Certification and Screenings
No public shows without CBFC certificate is to be exhibited. (Section 7(1)(a)(ii)). Penalty for violation: Up to 3 years imprisonment + fine.
Please screen approved PSAs/social films before every feature. Penalty for violation: Fine up to ₹1 lakh + license suspension
