Description : National Highway is a Network of highways that is managed and maintained by the Government of India under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORT&H), New Delhi and it is managed and maintained by the State Public Work Department. This scheme is a central sector scheme which is 100% funded by the Central Government. The State of Meghalaya is having 6 National Highways namely, NH–40, NH-44, NH-40 (Extn.), NH-44 (Extn.), NH-51 and NH-62 having total length of 793.043 Km. The Government of India has adopted a new systematic numbering of National highways in April – 2010, which change the National Highway in Meghalaya into 4 numbers, namely, NH–06, NH–106, NH–206, NH–217
