The Community & Rural Development Department is implementing different programmes and schemes for economic and social development of people in rural areas with a view to increase the income level and quality of life of the rural people. The programme/Schemes being implemented by the Department includes the Centrally sponsored schemes, like Swarnjayanti Gram Samridhi Yojana, Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana, Indira Awaas Yojana and State Scheme comprising of Central Sector of National Social Assistance Programme, Community Development Schemes, Assistance to Small Farmer/Marginal Farmer, Special Rural Works Programme, Construction of Rural Roads Programme, Chief Minister Special Rural Development Scheme.
The aims and objectives of the Schemes of Community & Rural Development Department are alleviation of poverty, generating employment in rural areas, creation of durable community, social and economic assets and providing food security for the rural people and general development to uplift the economic condition of people living in rural areas. The people benefited from the schemes are mostly Scheduled Tribes. However, Scheduled Castes and other backward classes also are benefited from the scheme though they are small in percentage. Significant amount is earmarked for the disabled person.
Other InformationsAt the Government level, there is the Secretariat of C & R.D. of which is an administrative Department. It is headed by the Special Secretary/Secretary to the Government and assisted by the Deputy Secretary and Under Secretary. The Secretariat deals with all the policy matters of the Government in relation to Community & Rural Development and all correspondence with the Government of India and Planning Commission relating to plan allocation etc. It also deals with all Establishment matters relating to Gazetted Officers, in the appointment, transfer, level etc. constitution of Block Development Committee and other Committees and sanction of schemes etc. (Other than those specifically delegated to subordinate offices).
