Objective/purpose of the public authority: Cabinet Affairs Department is concerned with appointment/ resignation of Ministers, Ministers of State and Parliamentary Secretaries. Allocation of portfolios among Ministers and Ministers of State, to ensure proper conduct of Cabinet meetings, preparation of agenda papers, circulation of Cabinet papers to Ministers, preparation of minutes of the Cabinet Meetings, communication of Cabinet decisions, administration of the Rules of Executive Business of the Government of the State of Meghalaya, etc.

Mission/vision of the public Authority: The aim of the Department is to see that the Department functions smoothly and that work is disposed off promptly and efficiently without delay.

Brief history of the public authority: The Department came into being in 1972 when Meghalaya attained Statehood. 

Duties of the Public Authority:  The Duties of the public Authority (Deptt) is to ensure proper conduct of Cabinet meetings, preparation of agenda papers, circulation of Cabinet papers to Ministers, preparation of minutes of the Cabinet Meetings, communication of Cabinet decisions, administration of the Rules of Executive Business of the Government of the State of Meghalaya, process and sanction medical reimbursement, foreign visits of Ministers etc. 

List of services being provided by the Public Authority with a brief up on them : Conduct Cabinet meetings, prepare Cabinet decisions, communicate Cabinet decisions to concerned Departments and follow up action on Cabinet decision
