The Green Sapphire - Heliophorus androcles (Hewitson)

Colour : Golden, metallic green or blue
A somewhat common butterfly of 30-35 mm. Upper surface of male wing brilliant metallic green or blue in colour. Female wing brown with golden-copper tinge and with an orange patch in the middle area of the fore-wing. Hind wing with a tail like elongation, with an orange band on the outer edge in females. Recorded from Shillong during February - August.

A common butterfly of 30-38 mm. Upper surface of the wings with golden-copper colour. Hind wings with a pointed tail like extension. Recorded from Shillong during August.

The Metallic Cerulean - Jamides alecto (Felder)

Colour : Sky blue
A common butterfly of 30-44 mm. Upper surface of wings shining bluish white with a dark border on the fore wing which increases towards the apex. Upper surface of the hind wing with spots on the margin which decreases towards the apex. Under surface grey to brown or yellowish brown with markings. Commonly found in hilly jungle regions. Recorded from Shillong during August.

Colour : Pale blue
A common butterfly of 26-30 mm. Upper surface of male wings pale blue with broad dark borders. Female dark brown with blue colouration towards the basal area of the wing. This butterfly is commonly found on the hills, keeping to open grassy areas. Recorded from Laitkor during September.
